With more than 60 caves in Sagada, the Sumaguing Cave has the biggest chamber and therefore has been dubbed as “The Big Cave”. The cave is showcases countless and unique geometric shapes of rocks, stalagmites, and stalactites. Also inside the cave are streams and natural pools filled with cold water. Lumiang Burial Cave is named as such because the cave houses more than a hundred coffins of departed native or indigenous people in Sagada. Steep steps lead down to the entrance of the enormous cave where the coffins are stacked on top of each other. (Photo c/o Leonard Guerrero)
